MEET STEPHANIE!

Stephanie Kerr, MSW intern, offers a caring and trauma-informed space for healing and growth.

About Stephanie

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when you’ve been carrying things on your own for a long time. My goal is to create a welcoming, compassionate space where you feel safe to be yourself, explore your experiences, and work toward meaningful change. I believe therapy is most effective when it is built on trust, collaboration, and genuine human connection.

I am currently completing my Master of Social Work degree at the University of Kentucky. My approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and person-centered, recognizing that every individual brings resilience, insight, and unique strengths into the therapy process. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, I enjoy helping clients build on those strengths while developing practical tools for healing and growth.

My experience includes supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault through crisis intervention, advocacy, and resource coordination. I have also worked with children and adolescents in school settings, providing emotional, behavioral, and social support. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to meeting clients where they are while recognizing that every person’s story deserves compassion and respect.

I enjoy working with adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, relationship challenges, and everyday stress. I have completed training in trauma, crisis response, confidentiality for survivors of violence, intergenerational trauma, resilience, and culturally responsive practice. I am committed to providing an inclusive environment where you feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout the therapy process.

I know taking the first step toward therapy is not always easy. My hope is that our work together provides a space where you feel supported, understood, and empowered to create meaningful, lasting change.

Name

Person-Centered Therapy

I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore your experiences at your own pace.

Strengths-Based Therapy

Rather than focusing only on problems, I help clients recognize and build on the strengths, resilience, and abilities they already possess. Together, we identify practical ways to use those strengths to navigate life’s challenges.

Trauma-Informed Therapy

Trauma can shape the way we see ourselves, others, and the world around us. I provide care that recognizes the impact of trauma while prioritizing safety, trust, collaboration, and empowerment throughout the therapeutic process.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps identify patterns of thinking and behavior that contribute to emotional distress. Together, we explore these patterns and develop practical strategies to build healthier coping skills and create meaningful change.

Solution-Focused Therapy

Sometimes the most effective place to begin is by identifying what is already working. This approach focuses on your goals, existing strengths, and small, achievable steps that can help move you toward the future you want.

Mindfulness-Based Interventions

Mindfulness helps increase awareness of thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations without judgment. These techniques can support stress management, emotional regulation, and staying grounded during difficult moments.

Crisis Intervention

When life feels overwhelming, therapy can provide immediate support and stability. I help clients navigate crises by focusing on safety, emotional support, problem-solving, and connecting with helpful resources when needed.
