Neurodivergent Affirming Therapy

What Neurdivergent Affirming Therapy Means

Neurodivergent-affirming therapy does not aim to normalize, mask, or correct differences in thinking or processing. Instead, therapy focuses on:

  • Understanding how the nervous system operates
  • Reducing shame and internalized pressure
  • Building systems that support functioning without self-erasure
  • Distinguishing distress from difference

This approach is particularly relevant for adults who were identified later in life or who have never been formally diagnosed.

Common Concerns Addressed

  • Chronic burnout
  • Identity confusion following diagnosis or self-identification
  • Social exhaustion
  • Sensory overwhelm
  • Rigid expectations and perfectionism
  • Co-occurring anxiety or OCD

How therapy works

Therapy is structured, transparent, and collaborative. Interventions are adapted to support autonomy, predictability, and clarity rather than emotional performance.

Who this is not for

This practice is not a fit for approaches that prioritize compliance, normalization, or forced social adaptation.
