OCD Therapy
We provide evidence-based treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder in adults, including clients located in Michigan and Pennsylvania.
Who OCD Therapy is for
OCD therapy is appropriate for adults who experience:
- Intrusive thoughts that feel unwanted or distressing
- Compulsions, reassurance seeking, or mental rituals
- Intolerance of uncertainty
- Fear-driven avoidance
- Moral, harm, health, relationship, or responsibility obsessions
Many clients arrive after years of misdiagnosis or treatment that focused on anxiety reduction rather than OCD mechanisms.
How OCD is Treated
OCD treatment is grounded in exposure and response prevention and cognitive behavioral frameworks. Therapy focuses on:
- Reducing compulsive responses
- Increasing tolerance of uncertainty
- Disrupting reinforcement cycles
- Clarifying the difference between values and fear
Treatment is collaborative and intentional. Progress requires engagement and practice
Neurodivergent Considerations
OCD frequently co-occurs with neurodivergence. Treatment is adapted to account for sensory sensitivity, cognitive rigidity, and prior invalidation.
Who This is Not for
OCD therapy may not be appropriate for individuals seeking reassurance, symptom elimination through avoidance, or non-directive therapy models.
